HEARTS, PIRATES & GLASSES

It's LOVE DAY! I took a break from painting, caulking and spackling  to help her make a pirate ship Valentine box the other day. I'm not sure why she wanted pirates, but that's what we did. We also used pirate valentines and gave out chocolate coins with them. It was cute.

All I did was shape the boat and wrap it in paper, Princess P did the rest! She's so clever!

 Thanks to Obamacare, we now have insurance. Little C's glasses have a hard life. He is SUCH an active kid that they are constantly getting smashed and broken somehow. It's a good thing that big, fat plastic frames are in style.

MY FOUR-EYED CHILDREN

 I have HORRIBLE eyesight. I've had glasses or contacts since the 3rd grade. At one point, after my 4th child was born, I had to have emergency surgery on my eyes to correct detached retinas. They had detached because of how near-sighted I am. It's not something that I wanted to pass on to my children, but unfortunately three out of five of them need corrective lenses. Sad.

At least glasses are stylish now days. When I was a kid they were NOT cool.

WARPED TOUR 2014

Big C and I were blown away, but our sweet, little, newly-returned missionary wanted to go to Warped Tour this year! She hadn't even been home a month! She said it was a huge shock at first, but then she loosened up and had a great time. I have very mixed feelings about the 'loosening up' part...

SPECACLES

I have needed corrective lenses since I was in third grade and my eyesight has gotten progressively worse throughout my life. I got contacts in 7th grade, but have always had a pair of glasses on the side. My kids make fun of how big they are, but I am sure- just like everything does- they will come back in style.

Here I am in 7th grade with my infamous blue glasses. I was a beauty queen.

This is me (on the left) with my Snow College roommate (who will not be happy with this photo). Again, my kids laugh their heads off at how large our glasses are.

Today I went to pick up these new babies. I like them. They are comfy to wear and I can see really well! I am still adjusting to wearing glasses instead of contacts though. I get really dizzy while driving, but that's probably why the tech told me to wear them for a week to get used to them. They aren't too bad if you can't see how thick they are (even with the ultra thin lenses).
