HEARTS, PIRATES & GLASSES

It's LOVE DAY! I took a break from painting, caulking and spackling  to help her make a pirate ship Valentine box the other day. I'm not sure why she wanted pirates, but that's what we did. We also used pirate valentines and gave out chocolate coins with them. It was cute.

All I did was shape the boat and wrap it in paper, Princess P did the rest! She's so clever!

 Thanks to Obamacare, we now have insurance. Little C's glasses have a hard life. He is SUCH an active kid that they are constantly getting smashed and broken somehow. It's a good thing that big, fat plastic frames are in style.

OUR TECHIE HEART DAY

Big C and I have been talking about getting tablets for almost a year. We very nearly did it for Christmas, in fact, it was supposed to be our presents, but we just never got around to it. So I thought I would  bite the bullet and just do it for Valentines.

I got Big C an iPad Mini and got myself an iPad (same price). Big C wanted a small one to fit in his suit coat pocket, but it didn't work out. He loves it anyway and I love mine. I am a fan!

This is our new phone. Cheap, but a huge upgrade from my last.

We also got new cell phones through the company and they are 'smart phones.' I am still getting used to mine, but it sure will be a nice change. My old one was,.... well,.... old! We have joined the 21st Century of technology (and only 14 years into it). Well done us.

VALENTINES 2013

Princess P has been pretty sick this week and so we didn't get valentines done until the day before this year. We looked at lots of ideas on Pinterest and she liked these sour cream containers the best.

I have LOTS of scrapbooking stuff to use, so we didn't even have to buy anything but the candy to go inside. I made a cute little tag with the saying Princess P wanted. They turned out cute and she was happy.

Big C and I went out to dinner and I have never been so disappointed in my life. We are not in the habit  of eating out much- Big C doesn't like it, and definitely not at expensive places, so last night was a super bummer! We paid $40 for a pathetic meal. Never again will I eat there. At least I had a great date!

I worked almost all day and didn't have time to make treats, so I took treat bags of Hershey's Hugs and Kisses to our family in town with this tag:

Princess P and I delivered them all. 

We are still waiting for D's mission call and were bummed it hadn't come too. Hopefully tomorrow...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I've decided that subconsciously I love to make my life complicated. Valentines' Day is always a fabulous example. I always feel the need to do something different and wonderful (if I can talk my kiddos into it). WHY? Why can't I just have the kids write their name on store-bought Buzz Lightyear and Hello Kitty cards, attach a piece of store-bought candy and call it good??

Instead, I spent ALL DAY yesterday making these heart-shaped crayons. Yes, they are cool and yes, they turned out cute, but they took FOREVER! Bake for 15 min. and cool for 20 min. with a tray of 6 to make 60 crayons? Yeah, I was ready to be done. Then we still had to make the cards to put them on. Blah. Why do I do that to myself? I don't have time!! (On a side note: my kids did love them and so did all their friends- except the kid that took a bite out of his, so I can console myself that at least it was time well spent).

Here's Little C's cute monster box (see the Pinterest theme in my Valentine's Day yet). He did such a good job. He had his Dad help glue on the teeth and he did everything else himself. The one eye is my favorite part!

I made these bar sugar cookies to take around to family today, except mine had pink frosting and were only half that thick. I need to find a new recipe. I'm just glad tonight has come and I have NOTHING TO DO! Heaven.

JUST ANOTHER DAY

Our Valentine's Day was not a fabulous day. I wasn't feeling anything close to perky, so it was very low-key. Big C has promised to take me out to dinner when I'm feeling better.

The kids came home from school with almost as much junk as they do during Halloween. For them, it was a success!

I made cupcakes and some other treats to take to family and then for Family Night we played 'Cupid' and secretly delivered some of the treats to neighbors.

And, of course, I needed to have CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES! This year I made my own and they taste just as wonderful as if they'd been bought! I do love them so...

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

I am always on the lookout for cute homemade valentine ideas and then I usually end up giving in to my kids and buying them. Well this year will be different! I am going to make some and they will be way better than the GI Joe or Tinkerbell ones at Wal-Mart! So there! Here are some of my ideas..

HAPPY LOVE DAY TO ALL

I had a fun Valentines Day and hope all of you did too.

My lover and I went for a snowmobile ride up the canyon and he kite-skied for a while. We had gotten a lot of new snow and so the ride was chilly, with snow blowing over the hood into my face, but other than that, it was a lot of fun. I wished I'd had my skis too, the snow was so perfect- nice and light and fluffy... When we got home we changed and went out to get Chinese.

But the BEST part of the day was when my sweetheart brought me some CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES! Yes, he came through! Yummy, they are so luscious! I am rationing them- one a day- to last longer. Mmmmm. What a great guy I am married to (and not just because of the strawberries either!)

LOVE'S DAY

That's what my youngest calls Valentine's Day. I love it. She's so darn cute....

Anyway, I thought I would share some cute Valentine card ideas I've found. I really like making cards. It is a great creative outlet.

This is one I made my husband about 4 years ago. I wrote 50 things I love Y about him on those little cards and put them in pockets. The message says, "How do I love thee, Let me count the ways..."

This is a page from the book I made him last year. I took self-portraits of the mentioned body parts and some were a little hard to do alone, but it worked out okay. The poem goes: "Take my lips, my ears, my eyes, my 2 big feet (excuse the size), my hands, my face, just pick your part. You might as well, you've got my heart." Y

This is a card from Scrapbooks Etc. I am thinking about making him this year. Y
