With Mother's Day just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to do an Ode to My Mother. Here are 5 wonderful & fun things about my mother.
- She could wiggle her ears.
- She was an artist and was the one who encouraged me to be an artist as well.
- She used to say funny things like "slicker than snot on a stick."
- When she was at Snow College she had the lead in musicals like 'Brigadoon' and 'Oklahoma.'
- She taught us to sing fun songs like "Bill Grogan's Goat" :
Ate three red shirts from off the line.
Bill took a stick, gave him a whack,
And tied him to the railroad track.
The whistle blew, the train grew nigh,
Bill Grogan's goat was doomed to die.
He gave three groans of awful pain,
Coughed up those shirts and flagged the train.
Is that the funniest song ever? I am so glad I remember it!
My mom died 3 years ago this week. It was actually a release for her. She had been ill for a very long time and my dad had passed away 20 years before. I really miss her lots, but I know she is so much happier where she is.
I love you, Mom! Happy Mother's Day!

What a beautiful tribute. I adored your Mom, so classy. I know she is watching over you and so proud of all you have accomplished. Cute kids would definitly be on that list. =)
Made me teary-eyed Kim! I adored your mom too! What a sweet, outstanding women! Thanks for sharing.
Okay ... I love to read what you are up to... but I just have to let you know a couple things I love about Aunt Sandy... She chewed and "cracked" her gum... She put everything in a "special place" for safe keeping...I think she always had money there...(I was just imitating her do this 2 days ago!) She was fun and funny... She could do anything and continues to inspire me often. You are like your Mom in so many ways... I love both of you.

What a great mother you were blessed with! I love your little picture idea... I might steal it and do the same with some pictures of my mom.
Love Moms. Nice to have an excuse to talk about how awesome they are, eh? Do you think our kids will talk about us like this?
